I've been lobbying around the interwebs, and hoping that a dribbble invite will wind up in my inbox for the past coupe of weeks since I decided to be a prospect.
Here's why, in one word: feedback.
Now I know I'm not as good as many of the dribbble players out there but I want to be. I've seen the role feedback plays in refining many shots and feel some of my work will benefit from such feedback from the pros of the design community. Most of such are even too small to post to dA or Flickr or Behance as finished works (but are just the right size for dribbble) and will get lost in the crowd and may not get any critique that'll help me improve.
Also, participating in Playoffs would help me get more practice, especially at times I'm uninspired to think up something fresh.
Some purists might say "Dribbble is a place for experts, not learners or n00bs" (which I might be compared to some of the players I follow/admire/look up to) truth is after seeing the quality of work there, I know better than to upload crap. There are some design sites I've refused to join because the average quality of work is way above my current level (and the users don't offer the kind of feedback I'm seeking). I'm also hoping the the goodwill of seeing a fellow designer's skills improve significantly might motivate someone to send me an invite. Others might say "He doesn't even own a Mac", true as that "seems" to be a requirement dribbble.com/shots/14726-Proce… own a low-spec laptop and run on Ubuntu but nevertheless I've been able to put out much better work -to my surprise!- than I thought I could without Adobe's ubiquitous Creative Suite (GIMP's still pretty frustrating though).
Please do not see this as a desperate atempt to get into an exclusive club, but rather as a desperate attempt to get better at design.
And there you have it; the reason I wanna be a player on dribbble.
My work spans illustration, graphic design, web UI, digital painting,... check out my gallery & my flickr page
I'm waiting expectantly.
Thanks.

It's been a while...
It's actually been over a year since I last posted in Journal. (Happy new year!) I do all my blogging on Tumblr so If you wanna know what's up with me visit http://dpencilpusher.tumblr.com
Done with school and NYSC and now I design smartphone apps for a living.
I'm still available for illustration commissions so you can get in touch with me at dpencilpusher[at]gmail[dot]com
Happy New Year!
Happy new year! 2012!!!
Wishing y'all God's blessings and progress in life all thru the year.
This year I want to:
-draw & paint more ('cos I can't have enough of that);
-improve my HTML5 & CSS3;
-learn to code in Ruby-on-Rails, just enough to be able to rapidly prototype and put out any webapp ideas I may have;
-read more books (I have a couple lined up already);
-fool around with 3D & VFX;
-game, I haven't in a long time and now that I have a capable laptop, I might as well indulge myself;
-"meet someone" (
I've started a new blog!
https://dpencilpusher.tumblr.com
Which probably means I'll update this journal even less often.
On it I'll blog about art & design (obviously); stuff I'm working on; tech, websites & apps; movies & filmmaking; books; some personal stuff; rants; cars; and then some offbeat things like sneakers (I really like sneakers), [anti-]pop culture commentary etc. etc.
Hop in every now and then to see what I've been up to. If you've got a tumblr account you can follow me if you want and like and/or reblog some of my posts dpencilpusher.tumblr.com
see you there!
Here's what I'm working with

-Battery life was 0seconds!
-Dead speakers, no sound (except with earphones or ext. speakers)
-Adding an extra monitor crashed it!
to this...

Intel Celeron M CPU 1.60GHz
1.5GB RAM
